JOB SUMMARY

To reinforce our Global Technology Team for Colorant Chromatics Group, we are looking for an Application Development & Technical Support Engineer (ADTS Engineer).

Colorant Chromatics Group is the world’s leading specialist in the enhancement of high-performance polymers and is focused on providing high temperature and fluoro-polymer solutions including a full range of high-quality concentrates, precolored and specialty compounds to a variety of processors.

In alignment with megatrends, demand in high performance polymers such as Fluoropolymers (ETFE, FEP, PFA) and high temperature polymers (PEEK, Sulfones, PEI) is growing. The successful candidate will be creative and impactful within a team environment, ideally within these 2 polymers families.

The position is a full time contract located at our Global Technology center in Assesse, Belgium.

Primary responsibility is to design & conduct experiments to develop or customize solutions for customers. The role requires also developing testing plans, procedures, data analysis and communication of results. The candidate supports problem solving through analytical methods & produce appropriate reports for internal & external customers. Reporting to our EU ATDS Manager, the incumbent is responsible for supporting customer projects, optimizing customer processes while providing education on our technologies. This role requires ability to operate with little guidance. 

WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

  • Ensure all activities are in line with Health & Safety principles. Pro-actively support safe working environment and assess all potential hazards.
  • Provide technical service to our customer & commercial team prior & after sales such as application guidance, specification understanding, process guidelines & give technical presentations
  • Troubleshooting processing challenges & customer complaints: investigate & resolve problem through a pragmatic but scientific approach. Timely assist our customers on site or virtually.
  • Provide to global technology team & commercial a technical/test report of the customer issue & resolution approach.
  • Collaborate within our global technology team but also cross functional team including marketing, sourcing, manufacturing, commercial, and regulatory to ensure alignment of the technical service activities.
  • Feedback advice for technology and/or product improvement based on customer feedback.
  • Create technical data sheets.
  • Lead & Coordinate with the plant technical trials and transfers: process, testing plans, data analysis & communication of results.
  • Product development & testing: develop products, meeting customer specifications, quality & operation standards based on input from the rest of the technology group.
  • Conduct experimental trials from processing to testing.
  • Initiate laboratory/plant capabilities improvement to allow appropriate testing capabilities.
  • Ensure testing are performed according to established standards.
  • Support raw material evaluation & selection.
  • Participate in Scale-Up process and support the plants accordingly.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • You have preferably a master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer Science, Material Science with a focus on polymer materials.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the field of polymer science, injection molding/extrusion, ideally within the area of high temperature polymers and/or fluoropolymers.
  • Teamwork & collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team.
  • Strong analytical & problem solving.
  • Project management capability & good communication skills.
  • Driven by passion to succeed.
  • Be able to work in multifunctional environment.
  • Fluent in English. French is an asset.
  • Self-motivated team player with an ability to multi-task.
  • High sense of urgency and initiative. 
  • Flexible and willing to travel occasionally.
