Job Title: Advanced Process Engineer

Job Location: Plot No. F-27, MIDC, Ranjangaon, Taluka- Shirur, Pune, India, 412220.

 

Job Summary:

Responsible for development of new and improved process for custom polymer compounds. Responsible for scale up and process testing plan and procedures, data analysis, and communication of results. Primary contact with Manufacturing for writing and communication of production specifications. Three plus years direct, relevant experience with the ability to operate with little to no direction.

 

Essential Functions:

  • R&D coordinates with manufacturing partners to establish quality and testing conditions for established Avient products.
  • Participate in development of scale-up, process testing plans and procedures, data analysis, and/or communication of results.
  • Develop technical specifications required for established Avient products.
  • Documentation and preparation of product specifications for Avient products.
  • Participates in resolution of plant production issues.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Masters / Bachelors of Science or Technology in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science / Engineering (or related field)
  • 5–10 years of industrial / academic experience in polymer compound development and processing.
  • Strong knowledge of formulating and processing of polymer compounds, with a strong background in polymer structure property relationships and polymer blends
  • Strong skills in the scientific method and use of design of experiments for data-driven research
  • Strong knowledge of analytical characterization techniques for rheological, mechanical and, thermal properties of polymers
  • Working knowledge of polymer processes, including compounding with twin screw extruders and injection molding.
  • Works safely in the laboratory and plant settings
  • Experience with product approval processes and qualifications at automotive OEMs is desirable

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Use of statistical software (StatEase, Minitab, SigmaPro or similar) for executing DOEs
  • Strong competencies in using Microsoft Word for documentation and report writing
  • Strong competencies in use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Project for research needs
  • Greenbelt (or higher) in Six Sigma DMAIC desirable

  • Excellent project management and organisational skills required to develop detailed project timelines with key milestones and deliverables
  • The candidate must be collaborative and work effectively across cross-functional teams to drive projects from lab-to-commercial scale
  • The ideal candidate is an independent thinker and self-motivated to address technical challenges
