Job Summary

 

Essential Functions

·       Advises the business, suppliers, and customers in the development of Quality plans to ensure the flow down of requirements.

·       Oversees the development of methods, procedures and metrics to ensure quality standards and practices.

·       Advises on development of methods for testing and approval of products, processes, and equipment and measurement systems to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.

·       Establishes statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error, and determining levels of confidence.

·       Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; and making recommendations.

·       Ensures quality processes conform to corporate and business safety, health, and environmental protocols and standards.

·       Perform and lead materials testing to ensure products’ compliance to specifications.

·       Train and supervise quality technicians to conduct existing and newly developed test methods and properly document results as part of QC process.

·       Lead in root-cause investigations of customer or technical issues through testing, and author internal and external reports.

·       Collaborate with Quality Manager to ensure compliance of QC records to standards.

·       Review and approve QC specifications and other documents for technical accuracy.

·       Contribute to customer-facing activities on quality testing related topics.

·       Participate in Plant’s R&D and other technical projects as needed.

·       Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, participating in professional societies.

·       Other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

o   BS in Engineering from ABET accredited institution in Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field

o   Experience with thermal and mechanical testing of polymers and/or fiber-reinforced composites

o   Strong analytical skills, including experience applying statistical methods

o   Capacity to work independently from general supervision (must be self-motivated once given direction/guidance)

o   Excellent organizational skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks and obtain results working within strict timeframes

o   Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment

o   Focus on attention to detail

o   Proficient in MS Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Additional Qualifications

o   5 years of hands-on materials testing, with an emphasis on thermal and mechanical testing of polymers and fiber-reinforced composites

o   Master’s (or Ph.D.) in Engineering from ABET accredited institution, preferably Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical, or a closely related field

o   Experience in a manufacturing environment

o   Experience managing or directing the work of others, e.g. technicians

o   Hands-on experience with SAP or similar ERP systems

o   Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma principles

o   Demonstrated use of statistical process control methods
