Job Summary
The Customer Service Import-Export Specialist performs the duties of a Sr. Customer Service Representative in addition to being the department specialist on import / export items. The specialist serves customers (External/Internal) by independently supporting and providing compliance knowledge and experience to all ocean and air quoting, regulatory requirements, needing their areas of involvement and decision making. The CS Export/Import Specialist demonstrates a 'mastery' level of knowledge and skills and advises staff how to handle the business unit's international customers' account requests, concerns, suggestions and complaints with the highest level of service and support. The CS Export/Import Specialist is an integral member and consultant to all Avient Business Units, to ensure global market and OEM strategies are communicated and carried out. As an expert in the department, the CS Export/Import Specialist is knowledgeable in and coaches the CSR team on complex Import/Export matters (quotes, orders, custom regulations, etc.), and supports internal coordination efforts. As a representative of Avient Corporation, individuals in this position are required to follow and communicate Avient business practices to customers and demonstrate the Avient Code of Conduct, ethics and values on a daily basis. Avient and customer information must be kept appropriately confidential. This position requires team leadership, independent decision making capabilities.
Essential Functions
- Provide team leadership as a Specialist, administrator and customer relations expert.
- Ensure the CSR team provides excellent customer service and support to all Export accounts.
- Strengthen customer relationships to keep building confidence and loyalty to Avient.
- Flawlessly execute all export and import order requirements from quotation to cash collection.
- Coordinates with Corporate Logistics for inland, air, and ocean freight carriers - all logistic activities.
- Promotes Avient policies and procedures.
- Has authority to negotiate procurements (exports and imports)
- Trains all Avient businesses in Export order management.
- Supports SAP start up and upgrades for export transactions across all businesses.
- Coordinates importations for all Avient businesses.
- Perform various administrative activities.
- Participate in or lead special projects.
- Train and develop the team, as needed.
- Provide support to CSR Managers, as needed.
- Perform related duties, as assigned.
- Customer Focus and Service Orientation - Ensures the CSR team provides excellent customer service for their customer accounts.
- As a role model, demonstrates positive and proper business relationships with all customers and all levels within Avient.
- Supports the field/internal customers by being a liaison with the end-customer.
- Builds and communicates an in-depth understanding of international account cultures and business practices.
- Fully understands all aspects of export and import requirements and regulation and customs documentation.
- Provides performance feedback to management in order to meet areas goals and customer expectations.
- Order Management - Oversees the CSR team's export order management process.
- Works with sales to monitor and implement pricing on quotes, orders and invoices for accuracy and thoroughness.
- Ensures orders are priced accurately and promptly upon shipment to the customer.
- Coaches the team to ask for orders in advance of stated lead-times and forecasts required volume.
- Proactively communicates any deviation in the delivery process to the customer.
