The Key Account Manager will specifically manage the technical sales process of PolyOne Distribution resin solutions to our Canadian Large Key Account with facilities in Canada, USA, Mexico, and Europe. Duties include forecasting, achieving annual objectives, margin growth, and volume growth. Plus, technically support all programs and cost saving initiatives that support the continuous improvement program at the OEM and their suppliers. Minimal training and oversight is required; works autonomously on a day- to-day basis. Plastics industry knowledge with 5-7 years of either Engineering or Technical Sales experience is required. Must be bi-lingual (French/English) with French being your first language.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, execute and manage sales plans, sales budgets, and expense budgets.
  • Achieve stated gross margin targets as a percentage of sales. Deliver planned results (AOP).
  • Watchful of market trends and innovations within the plastics industry (material, processes, tooling, etc.) and be in a position to introduce and support these programs to our Strategic OEM.

  • Approach the sales process with a high degree of professionalism and effectiveness by successful utilization of customer centric selling skills and tools, such as use of scorecards, business reviews, EVE tools, high/wide/deep, 5 warning signs, prospecting & new account calls, and development of a robust sales funnel, collecting ARs, avoidance of bad debts, cross selling and effective CRM system management.
  • Establish, track and close new business targets consistent with long- term growth objectives.
  • Stay close to any potential material shortage, discontinuation and Force Majeure, and propose alternative to minimize the impact on our Key Account assembly line.

  • Establish account development plans and network resources up, down and across both the Customer’s organization and PolyOne.
  • As an individual and sales team member, contributes to the company's planning of both long- and short-term business objectives. This will include periodic and annual sales forecasts, as well as the setting of sales volume goals.
  • You will work closely with our Key OEM buyer, engineer and design group, to support any technical and commercial questions.
  • Participate in Design activities (advance design review) with Customer’s cross functional team.
  • Initiate and support cost reduction programs, training programs, and support the implementation internally at Customer (support internal testing, drawing change, etc) and their molders.  
  • Support part and tool design review with OEM molders as well as tool maker, and when required, initiate and evaluate MFA to obtain optimal results at the molders.
  • Work closely with molders and Strategic OEM during the PPAP process related to new platforms development.
  • Deeply involved in program start up at the molder supporting their injection and blow molding process.
  • Support new colors development closely with suppliers as well as OEM Design group and molders.
  • Support productivity program at molders
  • Work both directly and cooperatively with channel partners to close business based on customer's purchasing requirements.
  • Create and maintain CRM data and sales statistics as required.
  • Keeps Sales Manager that support various OEM suppliers informed of progress through pricing negotiation, new programs reports/communications.
  • Adds customer value by acting as a business consultant to customers’ key management; develops a thorough understanding of customers’ business, overall strategy and operational issues; advises customer on best PolyOne product(s) to accomplish their objectives; recommends customer pricing, custom solutions, and/or special considerations. *LI-CB1

Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree, technical or business degree preferred
• 10 + years sales experience

• Bilingual - French as primary / English Secondary
