Required Skills:

  • Advanced degree in engineering or chemistry in a polymers or materials field of study, with a Ph.D strongly preferred.
  • Requires working knowledge of polymers, either in synthesis or modification, formulation development and polymer processing like extrusion and injection molding.
  • Ability to develop and expand an understanding and knowledge of Geon’s vinyl products and raw materials.
  • Use of design of experiment techniques and other statistical tests.
  • Individuals in this position must have the ability to actively listen to customers, both internal and external, efficiently identify problem statements and implement solutions in a timely and customer focused manner.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Must have the ability to ask probing questions to truly understand product and market opportunities and to apply these customer technical requirements in the development effort.
  • Ability to handle large quantities of projects and to multi-task.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Must be able to function effectively in a team and matrix environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • PVC experience is desirable but not required.
  • 5-7 yrs. of related experience in industry, working on product or formulation development.
  • Demonstrated success in new product development and launches.
  • Publication of technical papers in industry conferences.
  • Granted patents a plus.

 

Work Environment

  • Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc.
  • Work is inside and the individual is exposed to a normal lab environment.
  • Occasionally work in a manufacturing environment where the noise level is loud.
  • The individual will be required to work extensively at a computer screen and will, at times, sit at a desk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to travel by car or airplane.
