Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced Degree (M.S. / PhD.) in a technical field of study, engineering or chemistry preferred.
  • Requires strong working knowledge of wire and cable applications including processing, troubleshooting, and formulations.
  • Knowledgeable in cable standards including UL, ICEA, CSA, TIA and other cable testing and listing standards
  • Strong Knowledge in fiber cable / Power cable designs that are used in indoor and outdoor applications
  • Must be fluent in English – written and verbal.
  • Must have the ability to ask probing questions to truly understand product and market opportunities and to convey these customer technical requirements back to the internal organization in order to develop an approach and to implement a project which will be successful.
  • Able to multitask multiple projects
  • Strong project management skills
  • Knowledge of statistical design techniques such as DOE and DMAIC approach to troubleshooting
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft family
  • Demonstrated analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to present technical data to business leadership teams.
  • XLPE formulation experience is highly desirable
  • LSZH formulation and fire performances experience is highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills that will ensure the inclusion of PolyOne products into the design and function of identified customer products

Required Length & Type of Experience

  • 10+ years of work experience in the Wire & Cable or polymer industry preferred.
  • Experience in polymer formulations, processing, and wire and cable applications.

  • Requires standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time, talking and listening.
  • Must be able to walk and use hands.
  • Work varies from an office environment where the noise level is low to moderate to a manufacturing environment where the noise level is potentially loud.
  • Position will require travel to customer and equipment supplier site locations.
