The Maintenance Buyer/Kitter is responsible for the purchasing of all parts, tools, and equipment for maintenance and supporting other departments in and by ordering parts.  Finding and setting up new vendors and sources of supply.  Negotiating process and terms with vendors.  This Buyer/Kitter is also responsible for preparing parts, tools, and equipment needed for preventative maintenance activities, working towards a goal of having 50% of maintenance jobs kitted. The goal of the buyer/kitter is to improve the utilization of maintenance resources by handling the buying and kitting responsibilities allowing skilled resources to focus on performing  maintenance.

  • Approaches all aspect of the work being performed with safety as the highest priority

  • Manages purchasing for spare parts, equipment rebuilds, and new equipment using the Ariba purchasing system.

  • Purchases routine items for maintenance and other departments as necessary.

  • Works with maintenance personnel and planners in order to provide necessary parts and supplies for preventative maintenance activities.

  • Improves vendor management for PolyOne inventory.

  • Sets up new vendors in the system, helping to negotiate pricing and terms.

  • Works with stakeholders and accounting to reconcile invoices.

  • Uses eMaintenance to ensure parts are signed out to reduce inventory errors.

  • Manages daily inputs and outputs of spare parts and supplies in the maintenance store; performs cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy, adjusts min/max levels to avoid stock outs.

  • Organizes and improve the appearance of the maintenance store area.  

  • Organize and/or attending meetings with stakeholders to discuss RFQ and vendors for capital projects.

  • Provide reports from eMaint and Ariba about spending, inventory, etc. as required.

  • Assist with contractor management, including paperwork, safety briefings, security badges, and getting paperwork from vendors.

  • Maintain records and set up inspections, tags, etc. on company vehicles

  • Develops and maintains a critical spare parts program and communicates any shortfalls

  • Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum High School Diploma Required

  • Knowledge of maintenance practices and parts.

  • Superior organization and planning skills.

  • Team player.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Ariba, and eMaintenance

Physical/Environmental Demands  

  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and climbing of steps and ladders.

  • Must be able use hands to handle and feel objects, or manipulate controls. Talk, see and hear.

  • Typically work is in a plant environment where the noise level is high  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • The environment is typically dusty and includes many toxic or caustic chemicals.
