Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing plant and assumes responsibility for maintaining the physical assets of the property. This position will be responsible for a wide variety of general building maintenance, maintaining site services and manufacturing equipment repairs and services. This position is a Day Shift role with opportunities for overtime hours.

 
Essential Functions
  • Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, City, State and Federal guidelines.

  • Ensure compliance of all work related activities in a fair, ethical and consistent manner.

  • Maintain a professional and courteous manner with all vendors, contractors and fellow employees.

    Facility Operation
     
  • Maintain plant utilities and drive energy conservations

  • Troubleshoot and repair chiller plant controls/components, air handling equipment, compressed air and site/local HVAC control systems.

  • Maintain building automation controls for site comfort cooling and heating.

 
Production Equipment
  • Schedule and perform regular inspection (predictive and preventative) of production equipment to include mills, extruders, mixers, pulverisors, lab equipment, etc.

  • Schedule and perform regular inspection/calibration of laboratory equipment to include weathering chambers, test equipment, fume hoods, etc.

  • Troubleshoot production equipment for correct operations and assist operators.

  • Troubleshoot and repair local exhaust, dust extraction/containment, ventilation, and vacuum systems.

  • Troubleshoot and replace/repair mechanical component parts of production equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and replace/repair air actuators, other pneumatic control components and associated equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and replace/repair mechanical and hydraulic systems, controls, conveyors, pumps, etc.

     
     
     
     
    Site support
  • Schedule and perform preventative and predictive maintenance on site water distribution system including booster (city/fire) water pumps, check valves, backflow preventers, isolation valves, motors, controllers, etc.

  • Schedule and perform preventative and predictive maintenance on site air compressors and distribution network.

  • Troubleshoot site electrical distribution transformers, motor control centers and electrical buss systems, up to 480VAC. (4160VAC experience preferred)

  • Troubleshoot motors, controllers, PLC’s and drives (ABB, Allen Bradley, etc.) for production and site support systems.

  • Troubleshoot and repair air distribution system components to include valves, traps, piping, pumps etc.

    Administrative Tasks
  • Responsible for the completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned.

  • Complete payroll time sheets and mileage reimbursement requests and submit to supervisor as determined.

  • Special projects and other responsibilities as may be determined.

  • Work within expense limits established, and maintain inventory controls for cost effective operations.

    Other
  • Assist in monitoring work being performed by outside contractors.

  • Perform welding as needed.
  • Coordinate special projects as directed.

  • Responsible for alerting proper individual of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that has taken place or that may occur.

  • Facility and building maintenance as directed/required.

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Education and Experience
  • • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or Licensed Journeyman in lieu of degree or commensurate experience.

  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting controls systems, electric components, pneumatic, instrumentation and mechanical devices. Proven expertise in industrial electrical, including design, sizing, installation and component level troubleshooting.

  • Experience in other fields of maintenance such as plumbing, refrigeration, carpentry, welding, forklift repair, etc. Competent PC (MS Office and Windows) computer skills desired.

  • Plumbing or Pipe fitting experience preferred
