Manufacturing/Maintenance Manager
Job Summary:
Position plans, directs and coordinates the activities of employees engaged in chemical production plant support in the functions of central maintenance, utilities supply (steam, electricity, water, air, nitrogen and others), treatment of incoming water, pretreatment of waste waters, and engineering stores.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Safety and Environmental Performance:
o Develop programs, procedures, and practices to encourage safe and environmentally responsible work.
o Communicate expectations, conduct audits, investigate and document incidents, and conduct safety meetings.
o Authorize work, sign permits, and participate in the plant safety committee.
o Participate in safety, health, and environmental continuous improvement initiatives.
• Production and Maintenance:
o Determine requirements and assign personnel to ensure efficient operation.
o Coordinate with maintenance, lab, and warehouse personnel to meet production expectations.
o Troubleshoot process issues and determine appropriate actions.
o Provide technical support for maintenance functions and manage the Avient Reliability Program.
o Inspect and troubleshoot equipment, including steam boiler internals.
o Oversee the daily operation of utilities systems and manage engineering stores functions.
• Quality Assurance:
o Work with the Quality Lab to review finished goods and in-process test results.
o Determine process changes and solicit input from tech support as needed.
o Participate in on-site customer audits, ISO audits, customer trials, and complaint investigations.
• Staffing and Development:
o Participate in plant staffing activities, including interviewing and selection.
o Conduct performance reviews and ensure reviews are conducted for all operations personnel.
o Recommend wage increases and promotions, identify and prioritize developmental needs, and conduct disciplinary discussions.
o Develop and communicate work schedules for production lines.
• Financial Management:
o Prepare budgets, monitor expenses, and manage financial performance from a cost-to-manufacture standpoint.
• Engineering and Compliance:
o Provide advisory support to the plant-engineering group.
o Maintain plant engineering standards and compliance.
o Develop systems and use applicable tools to improve understanding of maintenance costs and utility measures.
• Cultural and Organizational Development:
o Drive cultural changes necessary for the organization.
o Resolve personnel conflicts and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Project Management:
o Plan, coordinate, and oversee annual plant shutdown activities.
o Manage other projects and duties as assigned.

o Learn and use all appropriate systems, including SAP, IQS, LRM, CCS, CAID Charts, COUPA, and Microsoft Office applications.

Physical/Environment Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities may require close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc. Work is inside and the typical noise level is loud. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
