General Summary:

Based on site in Barnsley and reporting into the Managing Director, the Plant Manager is responsible for effectively planning, directing and coordinating all activities for the operations at assigned plant. These activities include safety, environmental, quality, production and cost management. 

 

The successful person will be seen as a natural leader and need to have the knowledge, ability and experience to manage and motivate people from all departments.

 

Accountabilities 

·       Health and Safety Management across the UK site. 

·       Ensure the Operations department delivers effective, efficient and quality solutions. 

·       Forecast and deliver site wide Capex projects 

·       Ensuring consistent adherence to ISO 9001 / ISO14001 Quality Systems.  

·       Site & facility compliant with Avient corporate standards. 

·       Help deliver a successful SAP integration in 2025, and continue to integrate the Barnsley site into the wider Avient business 

 

Responsibilities  

  ·       Provides direction, ensures resources and manages programs to ensure the plant's safety and environmental performance meets established goals.  

·       Develops and implements plans to reduce waste, meet applicable regulatory standards and handles emergency situations that may arise at the Site.  

·       Develop a plant operating plan that is consistent with and supports the overall business plan.  

·       Determines what resources are required to successfully implement the operating plan and then secure them.  

·       Ensures standards for product quality, equipment and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production.  

·       Develops capital plan to improve plant operations, justifies investment, ensuring projects are completed in an agreed timeframe and within budget.  

·       Ensures plant performs at or below annual budgeted cost levels.  

·       Develops employees through training, involvement programs and other programs to create a strong team environment.  

·       Identifies develop opportunities and provides subordinates opportunities to meet career development plans.  

·       Represents Avient to the external community in a professional and positive manner.

Qualifications and Experience 

Essential 

·       A proven track record within a batch/blending/chemical manufacturing industry 

·       Experience of managing direct reports, with strong leadership skills 

·       Health and safety compliance and legislation

·       Ability to work well under pressure and prioritise accordingly

·       Self-starter with excellent planning and organisational skills 

·       Ability to analyse data, statistics and produce clear and effective reports

·       Experience with continuous improvement and problem solving techniques

·       Experienced in cost and budgetary management. 

·       Experience of managing projects

 Software Skills 

·       SAP  

·       Microsoft Office package including Outlook 

Desirable  

·       Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma
