Candidate's local to the Cleveland area preferred. Part-time work available throughout school year following the completion of the internship.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- The candidate must be working towards an Associate or BS degree in science, engineering, materials science or a related field
- Must have the ability to read, communicate and comprehend written and oral instructions in English
- Must have excellent laboratory skills, i.e. be willing to handle chemicals, equipment, delicate instrumentation, etc. carefully and safely
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and bring projects to completion in a timely fashion
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using units of weight, volume, and distance
- Must be flexible and versatile in order to handle changing laboratory needs and to serve a variety of functions or technologies as the business demands
- Must have competent PC computer skills, e.g. Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint
- Must be able to effectively communicate one-on-one and in small group situations
- Must have manual dexterity sufficient to use wide variety of standard lab equipment and ability to operate standard office equipment

- Must have skills in manipulation of data, mathematical formulae, calibration procedures, record keeping, and mechanical aptitude

Physical Demands & Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally handle up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Requires use of safety equipment as dictated by work area such as safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc.
- Work is inside and typical noise level fluctuates from moderate to loud
- Repetitively exposed to moving mechanical parts or airborne particles
- Occasionally exposed to vibration. May occasionally perform tasks involving toxic or caustic chemicals, and operate instruments that pose a risk of electrical shock.
