Summary
As the APM QESSH Director, you will be responsible for ensuring excellence in Quality, Environment, Safety, Security, and Health (QESSH). You will lead the development, implementation, and execution of the APM QESSH plan in alignment with the compliance strategy, corporate policies, and external regulatory requirements.
In this strategic leadership role, you will also structure and manage the QESSH function within APM, ensuring full compliance with all applicable laws, internal standards, and external regulations. Your work will be instrumental in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational integrity throughout the organization.
Essential Functions
You will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the Quality, Environment, Safety, Security & Health (QESSH) strategy across APM. Your responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Planning & Execution
- Develop the QESSH plan aligned with corporate objectives, secure approval, and lead its implementation.
- Contribute to the development and execution of APM’s strategy in collaboration with the Business Group Leadership team and with the APM site teams.
- Culture & Performance Leadership
- Champion a zero-injury, zero-incident culture through training, awareness programs, performance analysis, audits, and site visits.
- Inspire and support teams across APM to embed QESSH values into daily operations.
- Advisory & Compliance Oversight
- Provide expert QESSH advice at all organizational levels.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external QESSH regulations, standards, and ISO certifications.
- Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
- Track the execution of the QESSH plan, define performance indicators (leading and lagging), and report on progress.
- Conduct audits and ensure timely follow-up on findings, translating deficiencies into actionable improvements.
- Escalate unresolved issues to senior management when necessary.
Education and Experience
- Academic degree in Engineering or Science.
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience, including at least 7 years in a leadership role.
- Proven expertise in QESSH, including process safety and managing chemical production facilities.
- Strong coaching, influencing, and team development skills.
- Proactive, results-driven, and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Ability to think conceptually while delivering pragmatic solutions.
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 20% of the time.
- Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written), especially if not a native speaker.
