MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, chemical engineering. polymer engineering or other related field

  • Ideal candidate would have some exposure to color matching. The candidate may have had formal color training (eg, Terra Community College)   

  • Must understand various plastic resins and their chemistries.

  • A basic knowledge of pigments and additives is a plus.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Must be able to read and understand MSDS sheets and processing guides for a variety of raw materials. 

  • Ability to complete multiple projects with deadlines.

  • Must be willing and able to complete to work on extruders, molding machines and batching equipment in order to under technology and to further enhance learning experiences. 

  • Creative and innovative problem solving skills.

  • Knowledge of statistic process control, design of experiments or other related process improvement methods is a plus.

  • Good color vision is mandatory.  Will be required to take a color acuity test.

  • Must be proactive and self-motivated.

  • Strong proven leadership and management skills.

  • Must be able to work shifts as the work load changes or when plant support is required on scale-up.

  • Must be able to work overtime as required.


Required Length & Type of Experience:

  • This is an entry level position with 3-5 years of relevant plastics industry experience is preferred.

  • Experience in engineering plastics coloring and compounding is preferred. Additional background  or experience with color matching is highly preferred.

  • None required

  • Requires standing and sitting for prolonged periods of time. 

  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. 

  • Must be able to lift 50-pound bags and move 250-pound drums (with a hand truck).

  • May work is in a manufacturing environment where the noise level is moderate to loud.

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is exposed to mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes or airborne particles.
