Job Summary

This position coordinates the company’s efforts to develop new products and improve on existing technologies.  This position is uniquely positioned to ensure the company’s reputation for quality and innovation remains at or exceeds current levels.


Essential Functions


  • Assist the R &D Manager in the development of new products and processes.
  • Assist the R & D Manager in conducting research experiments, with the ability to devise prototype apparatus for experimental purposes and formulate/mix coating resins
  • Investigate different test methods to ensure that the product meets the customer’s specifications.
  • Collect & analyze test data, write reports and draft specifications.
  • Assist in investigating and experimenting with the next generation chemicals and coating techniques.
  • Assist in writing raw material and product specifications.
  • Work with process engineering and manufacturing in moving new products from R&D to manufacturing.
  • Work with Engineering on new machinery and process designs for production processes.
  • Must display a proficiency in basic mathematical calculations and algebra
  • Dispose coating waste in compliance with all federal, state and local requirements.
  • Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations. 
  • Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.

  • Other duties as assigned



Education and Experience

  • 2-4 years of engineering courses or equivalent engineering experience
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience preferred

Additional Qualifications

  • High degree of mechanical ability
  • Self-starter with initiative and a strong work ethic
  •  Knowledge of chemistry, plastics processing, and materials science
