Job Summary
Are you passionate about hands-on work and love to see your efforts lead to new innovations? We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented R&D Technician to join our Innovation Tech Center team in Heerlen, the Netherlands. As an integral part of our Research & Development (R&D) efforts, you will support various projects by preparing samples, conducting experiments, and ensuring the seamless execution of R&D activities across labs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, maintain high operational standards, and contribute to the development of new technologies and processes.
Essential Functions
• Execution of R&D Tasks: You’ll manage R&D requests from your colleagues, turn them into work orders, and keep everything documented in the system. You’ll be working primarily within our Tech Center in Heerlen but also coordinating activities at other labs as needed.
• Planning & Organizing: Work with your teammates to plan out work orders and distribute tasks across the team of technicians and engineers.
• Keep Everyone in the Loop: You’ll be in charge of communicating updates and important information back to the requestors.
• Testing & Analysis: Execute test programs and enter test results and other relevant data into our sample management system, ensuring availability of correct data.
• Reporting: Write up your findings in a basic report that includes a summary, setup, results, and conclusions.
• Technical Know-How: You’ll need to be familiar with the lab techniques and tools to get the job done and make the most of the available resources.
• Equipment Maintenance: Alongside the maintenance engineer, you’ll help keep the lab equipment running smoothly, making sure updates or improvements are made when needed.
• Work Instructions: You’ll contribute to the work instructions for specific test equipment, ensuring everything’s up to date.
• Stay Safe: Make sure to follow all the safety and security procedures we have in place for a safe working environment.
Education and Experience
• A vocational college (MBO) degree in a relevant field, such as Chemistry, Process Technology, Materials Science, Applied Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A good communicator who can explain things clearly and work well with others.
• Solid planning skills to juggle multiple projects at once.
• A knack for keeping things organized.
• Knowledge of lab safety protocols and best practices.
• Command of English language (spoken and written).
