Sr. Specialist, Sourcing
Job Summary
The Assistant Sourcing Manager has responsibility for the development and maintenance of strategic initiatives through the establishment of supplier specifications, measuring conformance and identifying process improvement opportunities. This position will directly manage one or more raw material categories.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Supplier negotiations and drives strategic discussions with key vendors
- Articulates sourcing strategies to key business leaders and stakeholders to ensure alignment and creative value integration with business units
- Identification of cost savings opportunities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Leads negotiations and concludes deals within area of responsibility. Work with supplier base to continually identify process improvements and cost reduction opportunities.
- Conducts market research and proactively finds new suppliers and alternative raw materials.
- Monitor and analyze market development and supply availability. Forecasts prices of strategic products
- Communicate with suppliers and internal stakeholders regarding sourcing activities and market status. Integrate strategic procurement activities with business unit representatives where required.
- Facilitate supplier selection and contribute to negotiate global contracts for key Avient and business-unit initiatives.
- Assist Sourcing Managers managing SAP, Ariba and other sourcing systems.
- Must be able to make logical and sound decisions working in a fast-paced office environment.
- Flexible on business trip
Critical Skills
- Strategic Sourcing - Ability to implement global sourcing strategies to optimize procurement and achieve cost savings. This includes conducting market research, finding new suppliers, and negotiating favorable contracts.
- Supply Chain Management - Expertise in managing all aspects from logistics to inventory management, to ensure efficient and reliable delivery of materials and services.
- Supplier Relationship Management - Strong skills in identifying, evaluating, and partnering with qualified suppliers that meet legal and company requirements. This includes monitoring supplier performance and driving continuous improvement.
- Negotiation - Highly developed negotiation abilities to secure the best deals and terms with international suppliers.
- Data Analysis - Proficiency in analyzing procurement data and metrics to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize sourcing processes.
- Project Management - Capability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to execute global sourcing initiatives and drive process improvements.
- Communication - Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers across different cultures and time zones.
- Problem-Solving - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address supply chain challenges and mitigate risks.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors holder in Supply Chain or Chemical related disciplines
- Experience: at least 4-year experience in Purchasing in Chemical industry with Process Improvement background and develops Problem Solving Techniques
- Able to work under pressure and dare to take challenges
- Willing to work on a team and self motivated
- Skilled at Project Management with Negotiation and Analytical skills
- Good command of English in both oral and written
- SAP system skill is preferred
