Job Summary:

The Manager of Supply Chain Planning has broad responsibilities for assisting PolyOne Distribution (POD) and the Director of Sales and Operations Planning in developing and ensuring effective execution of the processes within the business unit supply chains.


This position’s responsibilities are to act as a lead across all supply chain processes, specifically: vendor management, capacity and production, logistics and schedule data integrity. In addition, managing inventory levels and capacity to meet customer service levels and working capital targets for the business is critical. This position is an integral part of POD's ability to deliver on its service and execution component of their value proposition.  This position is located in either Romeoville, IL or Littleton, MA.

Essential Functions:

The overall span of responsibilities involves:

  • This role will be accountable for results, development, and day-to-day performance management for a team of supply chain planners.
  • Achieving Business Unit objectives: working capital, inventory dollars, aged inventory and on time arrival.
  • Tactical raw material purchasing and inventory management, including inventory deployment in warehouses to optimize total delivered cost to customer.
  • Finished goods material from order entry through conversion for all customers.
  • Delivery performance to customers globally.
  • Oversee materials and inventories for assigned facilities.
  • Regularly monitor and address Non-Working, Slow-Moving (NW/SM) inventory.
  • Evaluate/incorporate/generate ideas for new SAP technology to improve overall business unit operations (i.e. forecasting, reorder point, needed reports/capabilities, etc).
  • Maintain production scheduling and record keeping in SAP.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to have raw material available for scheduled production. Resolve raw material shipment discrepancies/issues.
  • Communicate and coordinate with suppliers, PolyOne business unit planning, logistics and warehouse operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or applicable field
  • Minimum of 7 years in purchasing, materials and supply chain planning
  • Minimum of 4 years leadership/managing others

  • Complex thinking skills in translating customer needs into solutions.
  • Technical & analytical aptitude.
  • Professional presence, including excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Broad knowledge of solutions, materials and processing.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Minimal training and oversight required.
  • Works autonomously on a day-to-day basis.
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency with MS Word & Excel preferred; SAP experience preferred.
