Job Title: Technology Leader

Job Location: Plot No. F-27, MIDC, Ranjangaon, Taluka-Shirur, Pune, India, 412220.

 

Job Summary:

As the Technology Leader, you will play a pivotal role in leading our Research and Development department in India to drive innovation, develop new products, and enhance existing ones. You will oversee a team of R&D staff, shared services, and process technicians, ensuring alignment with the company goals and objectives.

 

Essential Functions:

1.     Strategic Leadership

·       Develop and execute the R&D strategy in alignment with corporate technology’s overall objectives

·       Drive innovation initiatives to enhance product development processes and technologies

·       Identify emerging trends and technologies relevant to our industry and incorporate them into our R&D roadmap

·       Partner internally and externally to innovate new technology and penetrate strategic markets to solve customer problems

2.     Team Management

·       Drive a culture of innovation through creativity, cooperation, collaboration, and engagement

·       Set clear goals and expectations, and regularly evaluate team performance against key metrics

·       Plan, direct, and co-ordinate product development functions independently

·       Plan raw material cost saving programs through collaboration with Purchasing, Product, Production and Sales departments, where appropriate

·       Partner effectively with product stewardship

·       Business liaison for pipeline of projects 

3.     Project Management

·       Co-ordinate cross-functional teams to ensure seamless collaboration between R&D, Business Units, and other departments

·       Manage innovation portfolios, technology roadmaps and resources consistently with business unit priorities

·       Formulate compounds to meet customers’ requirements with respect to mechanical properties, electrical properties, flame resistance, UV stability, flow, surface appearance, shrinkage, etc.

·       Coordinate with other Avient sites for technology transfers where necessary. 

·       Maintain and protect all formulations developed, as well as all formulations transferred from other Avient sites

·       Coordinate with business units for technology transfer

·       Understand and select appropriate raw materials, including base resin, fillers, flame retardants, stabilizers, lubricants, etc. to achieve the required compound properties and applications 

·       Source new raw materials for product development purposes

·       Responsible for all technology-related training

4.      Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

·       Ph.D. in Polymer Engineering or related field.

·       20+ years of experience in Technology/ R&D

Additional Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated process improvement focus and project management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Performs independently and effectively coaches others to achieve results in a matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and influence all levels of organization (Avient and Customer), including the VP/GM level.
  • Ability to interact, present, and influence cross functionally and globally, both internally and externally, with customers.

The demands of the position that are on site Job 5 day’s week must be met by an employee to successfully perform all essential duties and responsibilities of the job.
